A man from Ceadâr-Lunga could be jailed for a period of up to six year after he asked for €800 for helping a person to obtain a driver’s license in categories B and C. According to the National Anticorruption Center, the suspect is the first person arrested by the anticorruption officers so far this year, IPN reports.
The man said that he has influence on employees of the Comrat vehicle registration and driver qualification section and asked for €800 for persuading these to help the applicant pass the driving tests. For his services, he received half of the asked sum. The home, office and car of the man were searched earlier today.
The man was remanded in custody for 72 hours. He faces a fine 100,000 to 150,000 or at most six years in jail for influence peddling.
