Fireworks Festival to premiere in Chisinau

The first Fireworks Festival will take place in Chisinau on Saturday, July 7, in the square located on Miron Costin Street, Chisinau’s Rascani district. The Festival celebrates the announcement of the new 7 wonders of the world, an event which takes place once a millennium. 21 final candidate sites fight for the title: the Greek Acropolis, Alhambra (Spain), Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Chichen Itza (Mexico), Eiffel Tower in Paris (France), Christ Redeemer (Brazil), Coliseum (Italy), Easter Island Moais (Chile), Great Wall (China), Hagia Sophia Church (Turkey), Kiyomizu Temple (Tokio, Japan), Kremlin, Red Square, and Saint Basil's Cathedral (Moscow, Russia), Machu Picchu City (Cuzco, Peru), Neuschwanstein Castle (Fussen, Germany), Petra (Jordan), Pyramids of Giza, Statue of Liberty (New York, USA), Stonehenge (Amesbury, United Kingdom), Sydney Opera House (Australia), Taj Mahal (Agra, India) and the medieval city Timbuktu (Mali). Those 7 wonders of the world of classical antiquity, chosen by Philo of Byzantium are: Great Pyramid of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Temple of Artemis, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Mausoleum of Maussollos, Colossus of Rhodes and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. On the same day in Lisbon, Portugal, the new 7 wonders of the world will be made public and the event will be broadcast live at the Festival organised in Chisinau. The Festival starts at 21.00.
