Firefighters deal with gas leakage in train wagon cistern

A leak of liquefied petroleum gas was detected at the Basarabeasca railway station in the wagon cistern of a Ukrainian train that was crossing Moldova. The called out rescuers and firefighters closed the faucet and stooped the leak, avoiding an explosion.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the case was reported in the evening of December 17. Four rescue and firefighting teams worked at the scene together with representatives of Moldova's Railways, IPN reports.

The teams separated the cistern and took it to a safe place. The rescuers and firefighters found the source of the leak, closed the faucet and this way prevented an exploitation or a fire.
