A man was killed in a fire caused by a lit cigarette in a settlement in northern Moldova. Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, told Info-Prim Neo that the fire broke out in an annexe in Goleni village of Edinet district. The body of the house owner aged 58 was found in his bed. He died from carbon monoxide poisoning after his bedclothes caught fire from a lit cigarette. Three fires happened in Moldova on Tuesday, January 19. The 93 fires that occurred in Moldova this year resulted in 18 deaths. Dorina Cruc also said that 190 snowplows and 320 persons were engaged in cleaning works last night. By 08.30, all the streets were passable.
