The leader of the public association “Moldova mea” Fiodor Ghelici demands that the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) should hold accountable those who violated the right to vote of hundreds of thousands of Moldovans. In a news conference at IPN, Fiodor Ghelici said that if the PGO does not react, “Moldova mea” will go to court.

Fiodor Ghelici stated that a number of persons came to “Moldova mea” and expressed their indignation about the removal of the Party “Patria” from the electoral race. “In Moldova’s history since the declaration of independence, there wasn’t such a precedent,” he said, noting that this party was excluded by order of the ruling parties, which saw that “Patria” was becoming the voters’ favorite.

At the same time, Fidor Ghelici cannot understand the actions of Renato Usatyi, who headed the list of candidates for MP of the Party “Patria”, saying he is either an instigator who acted by someone’s order or is a politician without experience. Ghelici considers that Usatyi should have called on his supporters to vote for a party that he considered a partner as the call to vote for “Patria” represented sabotage and help to the current government given that these ballots were invalidated.

Fiodor Ghelici also disputed the authorities’ decision to establish only five polling places in Russia as this way the right to vote of the hundreds of thousands of Moldovans who are in this country was violated. The association’s jurist is considering the possibility of suing the Government for such a decision.

Alexandr Kolotovkin, a member of “Moldova mea”, said the current government deprived the judiciary of the power that it must have de facto and forces the judges to take illegal decisions. Another member Maria Boldescu said the elections of November 30 cannot be considered democratic because many people who wanted to take part in them were unable to, their right to vote being thus violated.
