The Public Association "Moldova mea" chairman, Fiodor Ghelici, requested law enforcement bodies to do justice in the case of a woman who has been forced to beg and was the victim of domestic violence. The activist called for protection for the woman and her children.

In an IPN press conference, Fiodor Ghelici said that the woman was invited to Russia to earn money. Being unaware of what might happen and because she needed money, the woman accepted the invitation.

In Russia, the man who invited her and who became her concubine, forced her to beg. After giving birth, she took her children to the street. The woman begged for eight years. If she earned little money, she was mistreated.

After eight years of exploitation, she managed to escape from Russia by going to the monastery, whose priest bought her and her children tickets to Chișinău.

According to Fiodor Ghelici, the Association he represents will monitor this case. The activist said that they will file a complaint with the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.

At the conference, the woman reported that she met the man who exploited her on the Internet and thought that he could help her make money to buy a house, however, she was beaten and lied to. Since 2002, since she gave birth to a child from that man, she has been forced to beg.

The woman said that when she came home and her captor was unsatisfied with her earning, she was beaten and tortured. She was also beaten after returning to Moldova. The woman filed a complaint with the police, yet she was not protected.

The woman said that she is scared and asked for protection for herself and her children.
