More than 50 plots were illegally allotted in Codru town of Chisinau municipality. The plots were allocated by 12 local councilors after the local elections of 2015. The statement was made by the head of the Public Association “Moldova mea” Fiodor Ghelici, who is the appointed ambassador of the International Intergovernmental Organization for Economic Development, in a news conference at IPN.

The ambassador said he possesses documents showing that the land was allotted illegally and local public funds were appropriated. The documents were transmitted to him by the head of the Liberal group in the Codru Local Council.

The head of “Moldova mea” noted that 10 of the 50 illegally distributed plots were to be allotted to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the National Anticorruption Center and the State Chancellery for ‘hiding all the criminal businesses’. Over 2,500 residents of Codru have been waiting to be allocated land since 1992. “But only representatives of illegal groups receive probably land,” stated Fiodor Ghelici.

He also said that he possesses documents showing that an economic entity rented 15 hectares of land in Codru and now exerts pressure on the local councilors so that these vote for the privatization of that plot. A lawsuit was filed in this case and the judges passed a decision that obliges the local councilors to vote in favor of the privatization.

The Association’s head stated that the documents that were transmitted to him show that the local elected officials of Codru town appropriated funds. He presented a document of the Land Inspectorate showing that millions of lei were embezzled from the local budget of Codru and were misused. The document shows how many millions of lei the local administration lost owing to the misconduct in office of the mayor of Codru.

In another development, Fiodor Ghelici presented documents showing that the local elections in the municipality of Chisinau were held with multiple violations. According to him, thousands of people who took part in the local elections were illegally registered as residents in different districts of Chisinau. “These people were paid and they voted for a particular candidate,” he said. According to him, over 2,000 people were registered on Costiujeni St in Codru alone.
