Fines of tens of thousands of lei for economic entities

The municipal police imposed fines of over 90,000 lei on the economic entities that did not clear the pavements of snow and ice in front of the buildings where they work. Deputy Police Commissioner of Chisinau Iacob Gumenita informed about this at Monday’s meeting of the City Hall. He said that 276 economic entities have been fined overall. Gumenita stressed that many people suffered injures when walking on not cleared pavements and the residents are dissatisfied with such a situation. According to him, the warming-up was welcome as the snow and ice on the streets and access roads to quarters has melted. Eight persons have died of hypothermia this year. Four of them died at home and four in the street, one of whom in the basement. According to Gumenita, the municipal authorities do not provide adequate assistance to the persons that do not have a permanent place of residence, such as clothes, foot, and shelter. During the winter holidays, the municipal police discovered four cases of tree poaching – two in Ciocana district and two in Buiucani district. Investigations have been initiated to find the tree thieves. Four persons suffered bodily injuries after using pyrotechnic products, by one in the districts of Ciocana, Buiucani, Rascani and Botanica. Their condition is not serious, the deputy commissioner said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
