Specialists of the Chisinau Public Health Center imposed fines totaling 7,000 lei on four business entities as a result of surprise inspections at a series of cafes and bars with terraces in order to see how these obey the Law on Tobacco Control, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Center.
Inspections were carried out at 11 bars and cafes in Chisinau. Five business entities are yet to find out the penalties that they will face for the identified irregularities that include the lack of the common sign accompanied by the warning No Smoking, presence of ash trays in halls and on terraces, presence of persons who smoked in banned areas (at the workplace and in closed areas).
Smoking in closed and semi-closed places has been banned starting with May 31 this year.
