The persons who were stripped of driver’s licenses, but continue to drive face fines of up to 6,000 lei, says a bill to supplement the Contravention Code that was drafted by the Ministry of Justice, IPN reports.

The Ministry noted the contravention legislation now does not penalize persons who drive without having a license. Only the Penal Code stipulates punishment if the person who was stripped of license is caught driving under the influence or caused an accident that resulted in injuries or death.

The bill that was endorsed by the Government imposes a fine of 3,500 lei to 6,000 lei for driving without having a license because this was taken away.

Under the same bill, the persons who travel on public roads by vehicles whose wheels are dirty because these weren’t washed after leaving building sites will be penalized. The punishment will be a fine of 1,200 lei and three penalty points for private individuals and a fine of 1,500 lei for legal entities.
