The police warn that the displaying, making, spreading and holding for public exhibiting of generally known signs and symbols that are used in the context of acts of military aggression or crimes against humanity and the propagation or glorification of these actions will be fined, IPN reports.
According to the police, the banned symbols are: colored flags, armbands and ribbons (black-and-orange ribbons), emblems (graphic elements, letters or digits and combinations of these), insignias, uniforms, slogans, welcoming formulas and other such signs that are used by participants in acts of military aggression, war crimes or crimes against humanity.
The private individuals who will not comply with the relevant legislation will be fined 4,500 to 9,000 lei or 30/60 hours of community service. The persons holding responsible posts face a fine of 9,000 to 18,000 lei, while the legal entities – of 18,000 to 30,000 lei.
It is allowed representing these symbols in textbooks/books, using them at scientific or educational exhibitions, in journalistic reports or in theater plays and films, in historical reconstruction activities and also as part of armbands and ribbons that are parts of insignias, medals sand orders awarded to persons for taking part in World War II.
Parliament adopted a law that bans the making, promotion and spreading of the ribbon of Saint George and letters “Z” and “V” that are used as distinctive signs of the Russian army in the war against Ukraine.
The National Coordination Committee on May 9 will stage the Victory March in Chisinau, from the Great National Assembly Square up to the Memorial Complex “Eternity”.
