Needy families with school-age children will receive lump-sum aids to help them prepare for the upcoming school year. The National Social Support Fund has allocated 15.6 million lei for this purpose, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Social Protection and Family says the beneficiaries will be identified together with the local educational institutions and the welfare commissions of the respective local authorities.
The aids will be dispensed through the local subsidiaries of the Fund, which will establish the amounts.
In Chisinau, some 8,000 children will receive lump-sum aids of 700 lei.
In 2015, over 27,000 underprivileged families with school-age children received a total of 14.7 million lei in school starting aid.
