Finance Ministry denies reports that Russia transferred money for repair of state buildings

No money was transferred after July 23, 2009 to the account opened at the State Treasury of the Ministry of Finance for collecting money in assistance for repairing the Presidential and Parliament Buildings. The Ministry of Finance denies the reports that the Government of Russia has transferred US$20 million for the reconstruction of the two buildings. A sum of 130 million lei was accumulated in this account between April 30 and July 23, 2009. 30 million lei was transferred by Banca de Economii, while the other 100 million lei by the telecoms carrier Moldtelecom SA. “No country or foreign person made financial or other kinds of donations into this special account,” the Ministry of Finance says in a press statement, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
