Parliament gave a final reading and adopted the bill on the Security and Intelligence Service, (SIS), IPN reports. One of the sponsors of the bill, PAS MP Lilian Carp, who heads the commission on national security, defense and public order, said the Venice Commission was asked to pronounce on this legislative proposal and over 20 public debates were held later to examine the objections and proposals of the Venice Commission and the interested institutions.

The MP noted that when finalizing the bill, the duties of the SIS were conceptually reviewed and the obligations and powers of the Service were clearly stipulated, excluding ambiguities and excessive rights. The duties of the SIS director were also adjusted by removing the improper duties and the duties that can create preconditions of abuse. The role of the SIS Board was reviewed and the decision-making duties that were earlier the competence of the SIS director were supplemented.

The legislative proposal was passed by the votes of 54 MPs.
