The Moldovan Football Federation and Special Olympics Moldova on May 26 staged the final matches of the Special Olympics Football Weak in Chisinau. The competitions involved a number of teams consisting of students of auxiliary and secondary schools of the country’s regions, IPN reports.
“At the final stage, we had 29 teams from all the districts. More than 400 children have competed,” Special Olympics Moldova president Alexandra Danilenko told a news conference.
The activities of the program “Young Athletes and Families” were carried out within the event. The program is intended for children of preschool age and their parents. Children of the Buiucani Youth and Children’s Sports Club took part in a number of recreational activities and were awarded candies and presents by the organizers in the end.
Starting with 1999, the Moldovan Football Federation has supported the movement Special Olympics Moldova, which aims to promote physical culture and sports among children with physical and intellectual disabilities.
