A documentary film about the literati of Moldova will by produced by the Union of Filmmakers in cooperation with the studio Cinerama.
Eugen Sobor, president of the Union, told Info-Prim Neo that the project titled “Al Vostru Nume” (“Your Names”) is a first attempt to track the history of Moldova’s intelligentsia. The film with a length of 120 minutes will be produced by Moldovan filmmakers such as Mircea Chistruga, Vlad Druc, Dumitru Olarescu and Mihai Poiata. They are now browsing through archives, gathering the needed material to make the documentary, which they intend to unveil by the end of the year.
The producers of this documentary, Sobor added, hope to get some answers to several questions. “First, we would like to find out more about the social condition of the Moldovan intellectual, starting with the mid-forties of the previous century when the Bessarabian elite was subjected to destruction, then we will track the evolution of the intellectual elite as a propeller of change in the society, and after that will offer an insight into the biographies of remarkable men that changed the course of history”, Sobor said.
According to him, the film will be produced on sponsors’ money. “Regretfully, only director Valeriu Jereghi and businessman Grigore Cusnir have contributed money to this project so far. But we hope that other well-off people will not remain indifferent to the spiritual problems of the Moldovans”, Sobor concluded.
Your Names is supposed to be the first one in a series of documentaries produced by the Union and dedicated to Moldova’s intellectuals.
