Two project coordinators of the Public Policy Institute (IPP), Alexandru Platon and Dmitrii Belan, a cameraman and a driver were Wednesday detained and questioned in the “KGB” building in Tiraspol because they were taking interviews in the street for a project. The IPP expressed its concern about the attitude shown by this institution of the Transnistrian administration, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the IPP, the interviews produced in Tiraspol form part of the project “We bridge” that is aimed at building confidence between the people from the two banks of the Nistru, first of all by facilitating open dialogue between young people. “The questioning showed that the employees of this institution treat with suspicion all the actions aimed at building confidence between the people living on the two banks of the Nistru and regard them as subversive activities carried out in collusion or by order of representatives of secret services of other state,” reads the communiqué. The IPP expressed its hope that the regrettable February 6 incident will be treated with maximum responsibility by the representatives of the Transnistrian administration, especially the persons who present themselves as dialogue partners in international organizations and Moldova’s embassies. The IPP team is concerned about this incident’s consequences for the Transnistrian young people who agreed to give interviews to the IPP within this popular democracy project.
