The Film Makers’ Union of Moldova (FMUM) could be sued by the “Moldova-Film” JSC studio’s leadership for showing certain pieces of the films shot by director Emil Loteanu, during the homage party of the artist held at the “Moldova-Film”. Member of FMUM board Boris Bechet told Info-Prim Neo that the studio’s director Siman refused, without any reason, to put at the disposal of the Union the films shot by Emil Loteanu at the “Moldova-Film”. At the same time, according to Bechet, Siman would have announced that in case any fragments of films are shown at Loteanu’s homage party, he would sue the FMUM. Moreover, deputy minister of Culture Valeriu Turcanu, the representative of the state at the “Moldova-Film” JSC, would have hung up when he was asked to offer the costumes used in Loteanu’s films for the homage spectacle, Bechet says. Bechet is indignant at the situation when FMUM, headed by Emil Loteanu in the period from 1987 to 1992, can not pay homage to one of the greatest Moldovan directors, well-known all over the world. According to him, regardless of the conduct of “Moldova-film” administration, FMUM will show further, if necessary, the stills from Loteanu’s creation, offered from private collections. Requested by Info-Prim Neo, “Moldova Film” studio’s director Ion Siman, contested Bechet’s allegations, stating that he does not know what kinds of activities FMUM run and did not receive any request to put Loteanu’s films at disposal. “With all my responsibility I assert that no signed and stamped letter came from FMUM to “Moldova-Film” in order to offer them something”, Ion Siman added. The poet, actor and famous director Emil Loteanu would have turned 70 on November 6.
