Filat, Smirnov agree to reconnect fixed-line telephone networks

Chisinau and Tiraspol agreed to reconnect the fixed-line telephone networks between the banks of the Nistru River. The agreement was reached by Prime Minister Vlad Filat and the Transnistrian leader Igor Smirnov during the Sheriff Tiraspol - Dinamo Kiev encounter of the Europa League played in Tiraspol, Info-Prim Neo reports. The direct telephone connection between the banks of the Nistru was halted in 2003. Since then, it has been ensured by international carriers. The charges for these services are much higher than those made by SA Moldtelecom. According to the Government's press service, another topic discussed by Vlad Filat and Igor Smirnov was the optimization of the railway traffic on the Chisinau-Odessa route, via the Transnistrian region. During the opening of the route, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov said the passengers that will use this route will not encounter difficulties as the representatives of Tiraspol promised everything will go smoothly. It was the second time that Vlad Filat went to Tiraspol to watch a match involving Moldova's football champion.
