Filat, Shevchuk to meet today in Chisinau

Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Tiraspol leader Yevgeny Shevchuk are going to meet today in Chisinau, as announced by Filat at a talk show on the national television channel Moldova 1. Vlad Filat said he would meet with Yevgeny Shevchuk at 4:00 and the media would be allowed to film and take pictures of the event. “Communication is good between Mr Shevchuk and I, and this is not limited to public meetings. We also have phone conversations and meet whenever necessary”, said Vlad Filat. The Prime Minister said that he was often criticized for the small-steps policy pursued in relation to the Transnistrian region, but argued that advancement was smoother when small steps were taken. Both Vlad Filat and Yevgeny Shevchuk traveled separately to Russia last week to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev.
