Prime Minister Vlad Filat said at a program on Radio Moldova that it was difficult for him to understand why acting President Mihai Ghimpu refused to travel to Astana to participate in the recent OSCE Summit, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Lib-Dem leader said the reasons put forward by Ghimpu lacked pertinence. At the same time, Filat thanked the Moldovan delegation that represented Moldova at the Summit. “While there wasn't any final document adopted at the summit, still the problem related to Moldova was discussed once more, and this demonstrates that the Transnistrian issue is on the agenda of the global decision-makers”, said Vlad Filat. The prime minister said that since there was no final document adopted in Astana, the one adopted in Istanbul in 1999 remains in force, “because no one annulled the obligations and commitments under that act”. The 56 OSCE member countries failed to adopt an action plan in Astana because of disagreements related to conflicts in the former USSR, and especially the Georgian issues.
