About 50 owners of plots of land located near the railroad track Cahul-Giurgiulesti that is under construction refuse to sell the plots under the Government’s conditions, the Cahul-based Radio Univers FM informs, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. On November 21, the Government of Moldova approved a bill that proposes declaring the railway line Cahul-Giurgiulesti as object of national importance and obliging the owners of land in the given zone to sell their plots. Under the bill, the Government would purchase lots from 537 persons. Yet, “30 persons from Colibasi village, 12 from Branza village and by a resident of Valeni, Manta and Casnita-Prut villages do not want to sell the plots and impose illegal conditions for selling them, opposing thus the construction of the line,” said Alexandru Bannikov, head of the Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre. According to the cited source, the numerous discussions with the land owners did not produce results. Therefore, it was decided to declare the plots as public utility land of national importance. Those that will not want to sell the land will suffer the consequences of the law, Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev said at the Government’s meeting of November 21, making it clear that the owners that will not negotiate with the Government for reasonable prices will remain without the land anyway. The Premier said that it is not correct to ask 15 million dollars for a hectare of land that is located near the branch line. The railway line Cahul – Giurgiulesti is about 50 km long. The construction works are assessed at about 850 million lei.
