Fifth party can make it to Parliament, poll

If legislative elections were held next Sunday, five parties would enter the Parliament, shows a poll conducted by IPP, CBS-AXA and the paper Panorama. Besides the four parties elected to the Parliament in the 2010 elections, the yet to be registered, Renato Usatii's, Partidul Nostru/Our Party/ would also clear the electoral threshold.

The Communist Party would take 21% of the votes, the Liberal Democratic Party 12.7%,the Democratic Party 6.5%, the Liberal Party 6.1% and Partidul Nostru 6%.

78% of the respondents said they would almost certainly show up at the polling stations.

PCRM kept some 50% of the electorate it had in 2010, losing it partly to other parties. PLDM preserved 39% of its previous electorate. The Liberals and the Democrats fared better, with 48.6% and 47.7%, respectively.

When asked what politician they trust most, 39% of the respondents answered none and 13% said they were not sure. Otherwise, the most trusted politicians are Vladimir Voronin, Iurie Leanca, Renato Usatii, Dorin Chirtoaca, Marian Lupu, Vlad Filat and Igor Dodon.

When given choices, 32% of the respondents picked Iurie Leanca, 31% Vladimir Voronin, 38% Dorin Chirtoaca, 22% Marian Lupu and 20% Vlad Filat.

As concerns confidence in parties, PCRM enjoys the trust of 31% of the respondents. PLDM is trusted by 25%, PDM by 20%, and PL by 19%.

The poll was conducted during July 22 – August 1 on a sample of 1,504 persons. The margin of error is 2.6%.
