More than 38,000 unemployed people were recorded in Moldova last year, as opposed to 51,000 jobless persons a year before. Some 58.4% of the unemployed were men, while 65.5% of those out of work were from urban areas, IPN has learned from the National Bureau of Statistics.
The unemployment rate nationwide stood at 3.0%, a decrease of 1.1 percentage points on 2017. The unemployment rate among men was 3.5%, while among women – 2.5%.
Among people aged between 15 and 24, the jobless rate was 7.4%, while in the 15-29 age bracket - 5.6%.
The economically active population (employed persons plus the unemployed) last year came to 1.290,7 million, a 2.5% decline on 2017.
