Over 28,000 persons crossed the border on New Year’s Eve and over 18,000 of these entered Moldova. Compared with the corresponding period last year, the number of crossings is by 10% lower, IPN reports.
According to the Border Police, among the most popular border crossing points were the Chisinau International Airport with 6,371 crossings, the Leușeni border crossing point with 4,965 crossings, the Otaci border crossing point with 3,205 crossings and the Sculeni frontier post with 2,633 crossings. The other border crossing points were crossed by over 1,000 and fewer people.
The Border Police recommend the persons to check beforehand the period of validity and status of the travel documents based on which they intend to cross the border and to use all the available frontier posts so as not to cause congestion at some of them and to avoid the formation of lines.
