Fewer graduation exams for Transnistrian students

For the 2017-2018 academic year, the Transnistrian administration decided to exclude the additional common school, lyceum and college graduation exam. Thus, the graduating students will take only tests in two mandatory disciplines: mother tongue (Russian, Romanian or Ukrainian) and math. The math test will not be different by complexity depending on the profile – exact sciences or humanities, IPN reports, with reference to the local press.

Last year more than 600 candidates chose to take the exam in social sciences as the additional test, but only 200 students presented themselves at examination halls. Thus, unjustified costs for publishing the tests and other expenses were incurred. Similar situations were witnessed in the case of other disciplines.

The additional exam this year will not be sat. Only the exams in two mandatory disciplines required for admission to universities were kept.

The third test in the 2019-2020 academic year will be restored. This will no longer be of one’s choice and will be annually decided for all the graduating students. In 2019-2020, the third exam will be taken in history.
