Fewer children from Chisinau will go to summer camps this year

The Chisinau Council allocated over 22 million lei for summer camps this year, by 7 million lei less than last year. The number of children who will go to summer camps this year is also lower – 18,000, as against 20,000 in 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports. A ticket to a day summer camp will cost 730 lei for 15 days. The parents will pay 20% of the price, i.e. 146 lei, said Valentina Cujba, the deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport. The price of the tickets to summer camps located outside the city will be set later. 25% of the total number of children will benefit from free tickets. These will include orphans, children with an invalid parent and children with outstanding results at school and in sport. There will be opened 39 day summer camps, four camps that are managed by the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport and camps situated outside Chisinau. The day camps will be opened on June 3, while those outside the city – according to their own schedules.
