Fewer cases of COVID-19 but more deaths caused by this

The number of new cases of COVID-19 last week was by 1,400 lower than during September 12-18. But the number of deaths associated with the infection rose from 13 to 23, IPN reports.

Slightly over 2,400 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Moldova during September 19-25, as opposed to 3,800 cases a week before. About 30,000 tests were done during the two weeks.

Over 1 million citizens have completed the COVID-19 vaccine series so far. The immunization process goes on. The vaccine is administered free in all the national health centers.

Moldova by now has got about 587,000 cases of COVID-19. The death toll from the infection stands at about 11,800. Globally, the virus killed approximately 6.5 million people.
