Contacted by IPN, acting head of the Social-Humanitarian and Interethnic Relations Division Cristina Aparatu, who is also the festival’s director, said the event will start with laying of flowers at 9:30am. The opening ceremony will take place in Europe Square at 10am, while the festival will start at 10:30am.
The ethnic and cultural organizations will stage exhibitions of books, handmade things and of traditional dishes as well as workshops, plays and performances of music and dance representing them in the central park of Chisinau.
The Festival of Ethnic Communities has been traditionally held on the third Sunday of September, starting with 2000. Last year, the Coordination Council of ethnic and cultural organizations of the Bureau of Interethnic Relations decided to postpone the festival owing to the protests mounted in the Great National Assembly Square.
