Moldova’s Embassy in Paris, together with associations of Moldovans, will stage the festival “Martsishor” on March 6. According to the organizers, the event is aimed at bringing together the diaspora in France to promote ancestors’ traditions, IPN reports.

The folk music singer and main specialist of the National Center for Promoting the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Chisinau Silvia Zagoreanu is the festival’s special invitee.

“In 2013, Romania, alongside Moldova, Bulgaria and Macedonia, submitted the file “Marthishor” for being included in the list of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. We are glad that the Moldovans do not forget their roots. No matter where they are, they carry the nation’s traditions with them, with the martsishor definitely being one of the national symbols,” stated Silvia Zagoreanu.

The artist’s repertoire includes both folklore and romance songs. “I will take to Paris musical martsishors with longing and love for the people who are far from home and will go through recollections together with the lovers of folk music. We will sing together the love and the longing for home. We will entertain and will dance a Romanian round dance,” said the singer.

Within the festival, the associations of Moldovans will mount exhibitions of handicrafts. Creators from Romania and Moldova will stage a fashion show with traditional symbols and ornaments.

The festival “Marthishor” will take place at the Theater “Le passage vers les Étoiles” in Paris. A ticket costs €15, while for children younger than 12 - €7.
