The fifth edition of the International Music Festival-Contest “Twin Hearts”, dedicated to the memory of Doina and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici, will take place in Chisinau between November 12 and 15, 2007.
Director of the Festival Eugenia Marin told a press conference on Monday, November 12, that this edition is a special one because this fall it its 15 years of the death of the couple.
The second volume of the book “Two Lives and a Love” was published and the third CD of the singers was released on this occasion. The CD contains some of the rarest songs composed by Ion Aldea-Teodorovici and is entitled “Who Has Loved”. The Festival’s president Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici said that he personally contributed to the release of the album because he wishes this to be a present for the couple from their son.
The fifth edition of the Festival-Contest will bring together 18 children and 21 adults from Moldova, Latvia, Russia, Belarus, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany, and Armenia. The Contest is divided into two sections: singing and composition. Eugenia Marin expressed her hope that the geographical area will extend in the future and each participant will convey a part of the Moldovan people’s culture.
Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici also mentioned that singing a song from his parents’ repertoire in Romanian is mandatory for the participants and allows intercultural exchange by underlining foreign singers’ vision on the songs composed by Ion Aldea-Teodorovici.
For the first time this year, the competitors will be awarded medals. The winning prizes have increased in value at this edition, the big prize totalling 1 000 USD. During the last editions, this prize was 500 USD.
The laureates of the last editions of the Festival and local stars like Vitalie Dani, Anisoara Puica, Alexa and Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici will take part in the Laureate Gala on November 16.
