A father and his two children have died in a car accident caused by the carelessness of the driver in whose car they have been. The press officer of the Emergencies and Civil Protection Service, Tatiana Corceac, has told Info-Prim Neo the tragedy occurred last Sunday at 17.00, near the village of Harjauca, Calarasi district.
A 30-year-old man speeding his Volkswagen Passat lost control over the steering wheel and violently hit a tree near the road. His passengers – a 40-year-old father , his 15-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son -- died on the spot. The drivers passing by managed to get only two of them out of the car, as the other two were taken out by rescuers.
On August 31, half an hour later, a fire flared up on Tricolorului str. in Chisinau. After containing the fire, the firefighters discovered the corpse of a 56-year-old woman, the owner of the house. Preliminary investigations show the fire was caused by a burning cigarette butt.
16 fires have been registered for the last 3 days in Moldova, as 3 vehicles burnt.
On 29 August, at about 16.00, a RAF minibus caught fire from a short circuit on an area belonging to SA “Chisinau-drumuri”. It burnt completely till the firefighters arrived. A VAZ-2107 caught fire near Costuleni village, Ungheni district. The firefighters prevented the flames to burn the vehicle, short of the interior and a part of the engine. A harvesting combine caught fire from a short circuit on a field in Falesti district.
1,416 fires have been recorded this year in the country, which claimed the lives of 121 people and burnt 103 vehicles.
