The farmers resumed the protest mounted in front of the Parliament Building. They accuse the Socialist MPs of lying as to the fact that discussions on farmers’ demands will be held today as they adopted the budget laws and the budgetary-fiscal policy yesterday night. The protesters demand that the Cabinet should resign and snap parliamentary elections should be held. They said they will not leave and blocked a section of Ștefan cel Mare Blvd near the Parliament Building, IPN reports.
“They misled us. We want them to explain how the famers will be compensated as the sowing starts on March 1. They should not tell us fairytales,” stated Vasile Myrzenko, execute director of the National Farmers Federation.
Ion Plămădeală, a farmer from southern Moldova, said those who illegally voted those laws yesterday night are no longer in the Parliament Building. “They should explain what happened last night as they committed a robbery. They stole what they could and divided between them what they could,” stated the farmer, noting those laws should be repealed and steps should be taken to have a new Government and Parliament.
PPPDA MP Inga Grigoriu came out and told the farmers that important laws cannot be adopted one hour before midnight. A Parliament siting was to take place today and this was to involve the opposition MPs so that they discussed the state budget and budgetary-fiscal policy for next year. But the Socialists held a sitting in secret, last night. “We should have no criminals in the next Parliament. For the purpose we must fight, dear people,” stated the MP.
“They do not have the courage to come out and tell us what happened. Yesterday we saw crass examples of political prostitution, obscure bargains between three criminal groups – Dodon, Shor and Plahotniuc. Don’t think that Plahotniuc didn’t make a contribution. Plahotniuc was at home yesterday and everything happened in his style. For me, yesterday’s developments were a tragedy. They lowered the parliamentarianism to the lowest level yesterday,” said PPPDA MP Alexandru Slusari.
PAS MP Vladimir Bolea said that solutions should be found to provide assistance to farmers until February. The Socialists and those from the Shor Party waited for the farmers to leave and came together at 10pm and adopted important laws.
The General Police Inspectorate issued a press release, saying the police are maintaining public order, ensuring road safety and monitoring the rules of preventing infection with COVID-19. The police called again on all the participants to protest peacefully and in a civilized way and to comply with the instructions of the police. The Inspectorate said all the illegalities will be examined.
