Farmers from Cahul district took to the streets with their agricultural machines. They say that the period of sowing works is approaching and they have no money for diesel fuel, seeds or fertilizers. The farmers ask the authorities to intervene with support measures, IPN reports.

One of the participants in the protest said the legislation provides that during 30 days from the submission of the application by farmers, the state is obliged to pay subsidies, but this doesn’t happen. Spring is coming and they need to cultivate the land, but don’t have money for diesel fuel, seeds and fertilizers.

Another protester said the farmers are going bankrupt. Sowing begins, but they have no money. There were carried out field inspections and the documents regarding the small corn and sunflower harvest were submitted, but they don’t have any support at all.

Another farmer reminded of the aid in the form of diesel fuel offered by Romania. According to him, two years have already passed, but farmers haven’t seen any of the diesel fuel from that donation.

According to the police in Cahul, up to 20 tractors were brought to the protest venue.
