The farmers from a number of localities are heading for the capital city with agricultural machinery to protest. In the afternoon, the tractors are expected to get to four locations: near the South Bus Terminal, at the Airport, at the Meteor Center and in Stăuceni commune. Other farmers will take their agricultural machines to a number of national roads at about 11am, IPN reports, quoting a note from the Association “Force of Farmers”.
The farmers from the districts of Edineț, Briceni, Ocnița will come together on the Bălți – Edineț road, at the rotary near the entrance to Edineț town. The farmers from Florești district will take their machines to the Chisinau – Soroca road, at the rotary in Gura Camencii village. Those from Soroca district will protest on the Chisinau– Soroca road, at the rotary near the entrance to Soroca municipality. The agricultural machinery of the famers from Glodeni district will be taken to the Chisinau – Glodeni (rotary) road, while that of the farmers from Fălești – to the belt of the Fălești-Sculeni road, in Fălești town, near the shopping center Supraten. The tractors of the farmers from Sângerei district are expected to go to the Chisinau – Bălți road, neat Grigărăuca village, at the entrance to Sângerei town from the direction of Chisinau. The farmers from Basarabeasca village will come together on the Cimișlia – Basarabeasca road, near Abaclia village.
“We think the whole society realizes that we have an extraordinary situation in agriculture if the famers, in the height of summer and during dog days, set off to Chisinau with their agricultural machinery, from a distance of 150 kilometers. But these are the consequences of the responsible authorities’ neglect of the multiple crises experienced in the agricultural sector during a year. Now the agricultural producers need to choose between bankruptcy in the shortest period of time and protest in the capital city,” says the note transmitted by the Association “Force of Farmers”.
Today’s protests will involve farmers from the districts of Fălești, Cahul, Cantemir, Leova, Hâncești, Ialoveni, Căușeni, Ștefan Vodă, Ungheni, Strășeni, Criuleni, Anenii Noi, Orhei, Telenești, and Rezina.
