The farmers demand increasing the agriculture subsidization fund and paying the overdue agricultural subsidies and compensations to farmers by September 10. They also demand creating commissions at the central and local levels to assess the situation and compile lists of companies that were the worst hit by the drought by the same date, IPN reports.
In a petition to the authorities, representatives of farmers say that this year the harvest is by 50-60% lower owing to the weather conditions, while the depreciation of the national currency causes even more serious problems to the agricultural producers that cannot cover their costs.
The representatives of agricultural associations urged the members to express their dissatisfaction at the protest that will be staged by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” in the Great National Assembly Square on September 6.
