Moldova had a good agricultural year despite the unfavorable weather conditions. A number of changes were made in agriculture and the farmers sold their products at higher prices. The monopoly on the sale of a number of agricultural products was removed. There were penetrated new markets, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov said in a festivity held to mark the Agriculture and Processing Industry Worker’s Day on November 20, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the deputy minister, the exports of agricultural products so far this year totaled US$470 million, up 12% compared with the corresponding period last year. The grain, legumes and sugar beet crops were high. Subsidies were provided to about 10,000 farmers, regardless of the size of their farmland. There were set up 15 cattle farms. Eight cattle farms were reequipped. Attending the event, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that though it was a difficult year, there was established a favorable communication format for identifying solutions to many problems. The objectives set in agriculture – modernization of the sector and subsidization of farmers – are achievable as there is the necessary capacity and personnel able to implement the related decisions.
