Stars from showbiz and representatives of Moldovan media outlets participated today in a flashmobbing aimed at drawing attention to the crosswalks in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We gathered together to sensitize the people that many of the road accidents happen at crosswalks,” said one of the organizers, Antonita Fonari, of the Coalition for Law and Volunteering Promotion. “Both the drivers and the pedestrians must know that if they stop at the crosswalk, they will get home by 5 minutes later, but will be safe,” she said.
Singers Nicu Tarna, Maria Sarabas, and Serj Cuzencov, journalists Nata Albot, Tudor Darie and Alina Radu and other famous persons took part in the flashmobbing.
Attending the event, the journalist of Moldova 1 Mircea Surdu said that he plays a double role. “As a driver, I’m stressed because the hesitant people do not cross the street. As a pedestrian, I cross the street hesitantly because I’m not sure that the drivers will stop,” he said. “We want that the people in Moldova observe the culture of zebra crossing.”
Crossing Stephan the Great Blvd. near the Opera House on a crosswalk that is hardly visible, the participants asked a traffic police office when the lines will be repainted. The officer said that until Sunday.
