Three members of a family from Zaim village of Causeni district, including a two-year-old child, were rushed to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning on the night of January 4. The child was hospitalized, while the parents were allowed to go home, IPN reports.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the family suffered carbon monoxide poisoning because the stove had been incorrectly used, but there was no fire.

In the morning of January 4, a woman aged 87 died in a fire in Sofrancani, Edinet. The firefighters were called by neighbors, who saw the house in flames. On the eve, a fire claimed the life of a 60-year-old man in Cismichioi, Gagauzia.

The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service urges caution when using heating stoves. In order to avoid carbon monoxide poisonings, the stoves must be thoroughly examined before use. The fire must be put out before going to sleep, while the room well ventilated.
