Family of Moldovans involved in road accident in Romania, four hurt

Four persons, two of whom children, were hurt in a traffic accident in Letcani commune of Iasi County in the morning of July 14. The driver reportedly fell asleep and ran the car into a roadside tree, IPN reports.

Head of the SMURD Emergency Admissions Unit Diana Cimpoesu was quoted by mediafax.ro as saying that the accident involved a family of Moldovans, namely two boys aged two and eight and their mother and father both aged 29. The driver lost contrail of the car when he fell asleep.

“The children were on the back seat with the seatbelts on. It is presumed that the driver fell asleep and crashed frontally the car into a roadside tree in Letcani. SMURD teams were sent to the scene. The driver and the two-year-old child were taken to the Emergency Admissions Unit of “Sfanta Maria” Hospital and then to “Sfantul Spiridon” Hospital. The other child, aged eight, was also taken to “Sfanta Maria” Hospital, while the mother to “Sfantul Spiridon” Hospital,” stated Diana Cimpoesu.

According to her, the driver had headaches and pain in the lumbar spine, while his wife suffered polytrauma.
