Family from Cahul suffers food poisoning, child dies

A four-year-old girl from Cahul district perished, while her brother aged six and their father were rushed to the hospital in a serious state after these suffered food poisoning. The causes of poisoning haven’t yet been found out, but it’s known that the three ate fresh vegetables. A special commission consisting of doctors and other experts is investigating the case to establish the exact causes of poisoning, IPN reports.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, it’s known that the family ate borscht, radish, cucumbers and candies. An ambulance was called at about 4:30am on April 11. The two children and their father were taken to the Cahul District Hospital. The girl was admitted to the intensive care section, where she died shortly. 

The girl’s brother was admitted to the pediatric reanimatology section of the Mother and Child Institute in Chisinau. Contacted by IPN, the head of the Institute’s somatic reanimatology section Ana Oglinda said the boy is in a very serious state and the doctors struggle to save him. The children’s father remains hospitalized at the Cahul District Hospital.

Last yearend, a boy aged six from Cahul died after eating fresh cucumbers.
