Three sisters aged three, six and eight, respectively, natives of Abaclia village, Basarabeasca district, were taken to the Temporary Placement Centre for Minors located in Chisinau with evident signs of scabies and pediculosis. Tatian Todita, senior inspector at the Centre, told Info-Prim Neo that the girls were brought to the Centre at the request of the inspectors for minors of the Police Commissariat in Basarabeasca, because the parents did not look after them. Very often the girls remained alone at home for a long period of time. They ate what they found, even altered products. The three sisters spent several days in the hospital and now they are fine. But they are withdrawn and communicate with difficulty. The parents, said to be alcoholics, have not yet inquired about their children’s condition or about the future of the girls. Tatian Todita says that the eldest sister asked the social assistants not to tell her father where they were. As regards the mother, the girls say that she is at work and they don’t know when she will return. The sisters will be in the Temporary Placement Centre for a while, until the documents are ready to transfer them to an alternative centre in Parata village, Dubasari district. If the parents are deprived of parental rights, the girls will be given for adoption. But before this, the social assistants will try to reunify the family. The Temporary Placement Centre for Minors in Chisinau shelters 19 children at present.
