The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family has one more mechanism of means-testing applicants for social aid. The automatized information system “Social Assistance” offers it access to the Border Police's database on border crossing records.
Minister Valentina Buliga said the information on the border crossing activity of the members of families receiving social aid will help to cut unwarranted spending of public money.
“This benefit, the social aid, is intended for the families that are in difficulty, for example, whose adult members lost they jobs or are unable to work. If there are family members who are able to work and have found a job abroad, we can only be happy for them. But the money has to go to the families that are truly in need”, said Valentina Buliga.
The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family has committed to ensure protection of information in the system.
