A sum of 100 million lei will be allocated from the 2015 state budget for outfitting the socially deprived persons with signal converters for receiving digital terrestrial television. Such an initiative is contained in a draft Government decision, IPN reports.

Moldova pledged to finish the transition from analogical television to digital terrestrial television not later than June 17, 2015. This time the analogical TV channels will not benefit from protection in case of perturbations caused by digital TV channels. If the analogical TV channels create perturbations, they will be closed.

Under the program on transition from terrestrial analogical television to digital terrestrial television, licenses for using radio frequencies will be issued in 2015-2017 for creating three digital terrestrial television networks (multiplexes) with national coverage and 21 networks with regional coverage.

The first multiplex with national coverage is to be created by June 17, 2015. It will have a sufficiently large capacity to include most of the broadcasters of Moldova. The broadcasters that do not need national coverage will be able to set up associations for creating regional multiplexes.
