The hall of the Music College “Stefan Neaga” became too small for the many people who came to see a charity concert staged on the initiative of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport and the Student Senate of the Theoretical Lyceum “Mircea cel Batran” to help a family in need from Sangera.
Contacted by IPN, the head of the Student Senate Petru Grecu said a ticket to the concert cost 30 lei. A fair with handmade objects was also mounted in order to collect more money for helping the socially deprived family.
The mother and the two children aged 11 and 15 have poor sight and the father is the only one who works to maintain the family and has a salary of only 1,500 lei. Owing to the receptivity of those who came to the benefit concert, there was collected a sum of over 10,000 lei. A Chisinau shop chain decided to donate food products to the family for the Easter meal.
Another charity event organized by the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport is aimed at helping a single mother with seven children, the youngest of whom is only one year. The family lives in rented accommodations and cannot even afford basic necessities. Its only source of livelihood is the child benefit of 400 lei a month. Those who want to help the family can contact the Division on 022 20 16 01 for donating to Ina Piscop (the children’s mother).
The Division calls upon the education institutions to stage charity events entitled ”We are near!” to help the families in need before the Easter holidays.
