A number of families called on the law enforcement bodies to investigate their case and to take legal action against the founders of Kartier Konstruct Company. The families complain that they remained without the apartments in whose construction they invested thousands of euros. They are desperate as the deadline for completing the construction works expired last year.

In a news conference at IPN, one of the investors Alexandru Shevchuk said the company’s founders must be held accountable for leaving hundreds of people without homes. The families want the invested money to be returned to them or the construction works to be finished.

The victims called upon the authorities to modify the legislation on constructions so that the persons who want to found a construction company be obliged to have a registered capital of more than 5,400 lei, as required at present.

“What rights and guarantees can there be in the investments sector if the state does not guarantee the human rights. We invested money in the construction of apartments and hope that justice will be done to us,” said a client of the construction company Valerian Serban.

A part of the families that invested money in the apartments are in litigation with the construction company, but even those who won the case cannot get their money back because the firm’s property was sequestrated.
