False bomb threat at Chisinau International Airport

A resident of Bacioi village faces two years in jail for false bomb scare. He called the police on 902 and informed that there was a bomb in a car parked near the airport in Chisinau. Afterward, when the man was identified, he said he wanted to test the vigilance and response speed of the police in such situations, IPN reports.

According to the police, the call was made in the morning of October 29, at about 3am. As a result, all the specialized services of the General Police Inspectorate surrounded the area and checked all the units of transport parked near the airport. It turned out to be a false bomb threat.

The suspect was identified shortly afterward. The 51-year-old man decided to test the vigilance of the police after drinking alcoholic beverages together with two friends of his. He faces a fine of 4,000 to 10,000 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service or up to two years in jail for deliberately misinforming the police about a terrorist act.

According to employees of the airport, the incident didn’t disrupt air traffic.
