More than 3.1 million calls were made to the 112 emergency phone number in 2019. The daily average was of 8,723 calls, IPN reports, quoting the emergency service.
The real emergency calls represented 40.9%. Most of these were managed by the ambulance service (almost 75%), the police (23%) and the firefighting service (2%).
From the viewpoint of the geographical location, most of the calls were made from the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti and the districts of Orhei, Cahul, Ungheni and Soroca. In the period, the 112 service received 13,152 SMSes that informed about emergencies.
