The Parliament Building hosted a charity fair staged to collect money for children from orphanages and placement centers on April 27. The event was held on the initiative of Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu for the second year in a row, before the Easter holidays. Children from about 20 placement centers of Chisinau sold to MPs objects made by them, including icons, small baskets, paintings and Gobelin tapestry, IPN reports, quoting the legislature’s press service.
“Before the Easter holidays, it is very important to stop for at least a moment, to forget about the daily problems and to remember that besides politics, there are also faith, tolerance and justice,” stated Andrian Candu.
The opening of the fair was attended by His Holiness Vladimir, the Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and All Moldova, His Holiness Petru, the Metropolitan Bishop of Bessarabia, and Monsenior Anton Cosa, Bishop of the Roman-Catholic Diocese of Chisinau.
“The children, by their works, bring Easter closer. I will donate the objects made by children that I bought at the fair today to the Patriarch of Jerusalem when I go the Holy Land,” said His Holiness Vladimir.
“The Easter holidays are coming closer and on these days each of us must purify their souls and show love for those who are near us,” stated His Holiness Petru.
The children transmitted their Easter message to the MPs through the agency of paschal songs. Each of the participating child received dictionaries, fruit, candies and Easter cakes.
Last week, the Parliament’s Secretariat staged the charity event “Fair of Candies” and raised funds for a socially deprived family.
