Eco-Responsible ideas related to renewable energy and energy efficiency – from photovoltaic panels to factories for making insulating materials from sheep wool – were presented at the exhibitions center “Moldexpo” in an event held within the Moldova Eco-Energetica Week. The project authors presented their ideas before potential sponsors, donors and development partners, IPN reports.
Alexandrina Shian, the representative of the company Sandilana, said their eco idea consists in the manufacture of natural insulators from sheep wool, which can be used both at home and by production institutions. The material can be used for flooring, walls and ceilings. “The trump card of this product is that it keeps the air warm in the room. It is a natural conditioning system that can absorb the excess vapors in the humid periods of the year and emits them back in the room when it is excessively dry, especially in winter,” stated Alexandrina Shian.
According to her, they produce over 2,000 tonnes of sheep wool a year in Moldova, but the textile industry uses less than one fourth of this quantity because it is too hard and rough. Therefore, the largest part of the wool is stored in attics or is thrown away. The thinness, color and thickness of the wool thread do not matter when making insulating materials. Unlike mineral wool or glass wool, this insulator is more expensive, but can be used almost twice longer and is resistant to natural factors and does not emit phenol when the temperatures are high. A natural material is already prepared for different conditions.
Dumitru Rusnac, student at the Faculty of Physics of the State University of Moldova, came to the fair with a number of solar panels consisting of ‘solar cells’ that are made in the university’s lab. “We focus on the obtaining of solar batteries with a better output and from cheaper materials,” he stated. The student presented a number of models, including an installation for street lighting and a traffic light accompanied by a solar panel and a battery that make it work without electricity. Such installations can be used, for example, in places were electricity poles cannot be put up or in case of blackout.
Dmitri Navroţki, of Avia Invest company that manages the Chisinau International Airport, presented a project to light the airport at lower costs. Currently, over 100 airports in the world use solar panels to obtain electricity. They chose a plot where to place the panels within this project and the obtained electricity will be transmitted to the power operator and then to the airport. They also consider the possibility of keeping the electric power through the agency of batteries.
The project ideas that got financing will be announced in the Gala Moldova Eco Energetica on December 2.
